In the case of opposing and equivalent evaluations, the editors may decide to submit the contribution to a third reviewer (umpire) or ask the author themselves for the changes they consider necessary for publication.

If contributions are in a language other than Italian, they are subject to a linguistic quality assessment. Any changes requested are prerequisites for publication. As part of the preliminary checks, each article is subjected to a plagiarism check using the iThenticate software.

Journal History

The project was born in 2009 from an idea of the lecturers of the degree courses dedicated to the study of Fashion, University of Bologna, Rimini Campus.

For the first two issues, the editorship was taken over by Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli, who, together with the editorial staff of those years, defined the editorial project in the two macro sections of which the magazine is still composed today.

The first section publishes essays related to the theme to which the issue is dedicated, from different perspectives. The authors who have so far participated in the publication of the journal are both renowned scholars and new researchers. The intention of ZoneModa Journal, in fact, is to represent a place of choice in which to welcome and enhance the proposals of experts alongside those of young people. Not only that: its vocation is also to configure itself as a space in which the theories and viewpoints of the classics can react with the ideas and reflections of the discipline’s new devotees.

The second section, called ‘Backstage’, includes interviews, book and exhibition reviews, and short articles on news and cultural emergencies connected with the world of fashion and culture in general.

As of 2013, the editorship of the magazine passed to Antonella Mascio. Also since that year (issue 3, Pop Culture), the articles have been subject to the double-blind peer review procedure initially exercised by the editorial staff, then managed by a group of external reviewers. Issues are published regularly, once a year, until 2017. As of 2018, the journal comes out every six months, in open access digital format. The scientific committee is constantly being changed and the names of scholars from the international scene are increasing.

Until issue 6 (Futuri Possibili, 2016), the journal was published in two different formats: the Italian version was both print and digital; the English version was only available digitally. Since issue 7 (Fashion and Celebrity Culture, 2017) ZoneModa has been available in the digital format only; articles are published only in one language: Italian or English.

As of 2018 with issue Fashion and Childhood 8.2 the editorship passed to Simona Segre-Reinach with co-editing by Daniela Calanca.

In short, the intention of the editors is to continue to update and modify the project, based on constant and continuous work that includes the observation of the operational world of fashion making and the theoretical horizon of Fashion Studies, with its many facets. Attualmente la rivista è in “Classe A” nei settori Anvur 10 (B1, C1, D2, D3, D4, E1, E1, F3, F4, G1, L1, M1, N1) e “Rivista scientifica” nei settori Anvur 08 e 11.
