  Is Full Professor of Cinema, Photography, Radio, Television, and Digital Media at the University of Bologna. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the A-rated academic journal ZoneModa Journal and Senior Editor of the A-rated academic journal Cinergie. His research spans several areas, including the aesthetic categories of contemporary cinema, film culture and its transformations, methodologies of criticism and cinephile practice, festival studies, and celebrity studies. He has authored more than thirty books and hundreds of articles. He is involved in various PRIN research projects. An essayist, lecturer, and critic, he also serves as a consultant for the Cineteca di Bologna Foundation.
